LEGACY FOUNDER
Renée Tillotson
“What drives me is creating spaces where I can help people find their way to wellbeing,” says Renée Tillotson, owner of three local companies: Still & Moving Center, Academy of Mindful Movement, and Prometheus Construction. Still & Moving Center is a brick-and-mortar yoga and dance wellness studio located in Kaka’ako, Honolulu. The Center has hosted classes on a variety of healthy movement practices since 2011. Renée founded the Academy of Mindful Movement in 2021 as a live online continuing education platform for movement instructors and coaches around the globe.
Renée’s movement teaching experience began at age 15 with gymnastics classes. She went on to become the captain of both her high school and her college gymnastics teams. After graduating with a BA in Political Science and earning a Multi-Subjects Teaching Credential from UC Santa Barbara, Renée taught elementary and junior high school English and Drama for 9 years. When she and her husband Cliff started having their three children, Renée left school teaching to administer the family landscape and construction companies in California. In 2002, she and her husband began their Prometheus Construction company on O’ahu.
In 2002 Renée also discovered the Nia movement practice, which fuses dance, martial arts and yoga. She took all of her Nia intensive trainings at Nia International Headquarters from the two co-creators of Nia: Debbie Rosas and Carlos Rosas, and is a 2nd degree Nia black belt.
In 2021 Renée became the legacy founder of the Academy of Mindful Movement, an accredited continuing education program for coaches and instructors of all movement disciplines to learn to teach mindfully.
